America-Love

Posted on 06 March 2009 by Sammy

I haven’t updated in what feels like a gazillion years. The best way to keep updated with me is via my Twitter. I’m on that 24/7 and no I do not have Facebook!

I’ve been in Canada for three weeks now. I haven’t done anything! What a slob. I’ve been mainly trying to find work in Canada which is going alright (I suppose).

Anyway, one guy came back to me and asked me to make my resume into the American style format. Damn. I thought I could get away without having to squish everything into the one page for Canada. But seriously speaking, how am I supposed to do that anyway? It’s ridiculous. ONE PAGE? SERIOUSLY???

Sammy
how do i internationalise my resume
Peter
hahha

Sammy
hahaha
howwww
Peter
interests: AMERICA
Sammy
hahahaha
that wont go well with canadians

Which is true. I love America. I miss America much. I have been disheartened when I learnt Canadians aren’t much of a fan of hip-hop, love house & rock, go to pubs and love drinking beer. Sounds much like Australia. Blargh!

Mick: how is america?
Sammy: america is awesome
Mick: it is?
Mick: explain in detail the awesomeness of america
Sammy: its unexplainable
Sammy: its just awesome
Sammy: awesome awesome awesome

I didn’t take many photos this time around – I was too busy showing my mum around. But you can find all my photos on my Flickr.

Anyway the snow here is pretty but it’s by far too cold. With days down to -28C and -10C as the average, today is very suprisingly warm at 15C. Hooray. Never would I have thought I would describe 15C as warm. Actually anything below 20C for me in Melbourne would be chilly. Anything below 15C would be freezing.

I’m going to close with an update of my progress with the Couch to 5K. I completed up to Week 4 and ran 3.5K, except by then I had left for my trip to America and am now being a slob in cold Canada. I saw a couple running around the other day so decided to give it a go by running around the block. I forgot that for the past few months I’ve been running in 25-30C weather and that’s how my body only knows how to run. So it was -19C and my nose quickly clogged up with all the freezing cold air and I couldn’t breathe. I ran home struggling for air and now I am SICK and have been SICK for this whole week. It’s TERRIBLE. What a completely stupid idea.

So my program is officially delayed by 5 weeks so far. Desperately need to start again next week. I found a gym in walkable distance. Yay. Thanks Kevin for the rec. :)

P.S: I can’t say it enough, I love & miss America.

    Hey Sammy,
I was just on a facebook page called “Aussies in toronto” and i saw a comment you wrote. I was gonna send you a msg as im gonna be moving to toronto next April/May (so nervous and doing alotta research!!!) Anyway i couldn’t add you or send a msg cause of privacy settings. So in the midst of doing all this research i end up on the vogue aussie forums in the travel section and find the threads on Canada. I read what this girl Lustique is saying about wanting to move to Canada and what she is saying sounds just like me and i notice she has a blog so click on it. I read quite a few helpful and funny blog entries and suddenly i see a picture and lol i realise you are the same person from facebook(even though i strangely read you don’t have facebook on your blog???).

Just read the American section and seriously we both think alike it’s alil scary lol in reference liking hip hop/r&b and loving the good olde USA!and not being so fond of house & rock, going to pubs and drinking beer. I ultimately want to move the America aswell and thats kinda the reason im picking Canada over London, UK. I was just in NYC and NJ and i loved it so much and i felt like crying when i had to leave :( Anyways i have babbled on abit, get back to me and let me know how Canadian Life is going? Im excited to get back over to the continent!!
